As of tomorrow, I'm on holiday for a couple of weeks – flying off to deepest Kentucky to stay with my friend who, with her husband, has been building an off-grid house out there for the last couple of years.

The work that they've done on the place is inspiring. On a really tight budget and they've swapped skills, learnt from library books and made every inch of the place their own. There's so much love in the house it'll nurture who-ever comes into contact with it.

Here are some shots:

They have wonderful grounds, a great view, and beautiful countryside all around. There nearest neighbour is about 10 miles and it's a couple of hours round trip into Lexington, the nearest city. There's no mobile signal and no internet.

This trip is me making some time for down time.

Re-structuring Path Less Trodden and being part of Karen Knowler's Raw Food Coach Training this year has meant fast-paced change, real exciting, satisfying work, and a lot of time online with my beloved Dell. I've been back in the UK for the summer, and I know that a new chapter of my life will be opening when I head back to Tuscany at the end of September.

Now's the time to take a break. It's time I reconnected with the ground, the earth, nature and friends. I've recently committed to bring more creativity into my life, more fun and to nurture myself more and that's what I intend to do surrounded by these rolling green lands.

They'll be walking, farmers' markets, some Contra dancing, yoga (my friend's a teacher), games in the garden, lazy dinners on the deck and lots of reading…

So, no updates from me for a while, but I'll probably film a few videos out there so look out for some spectacular scenery over the coming posts.

Enjoy the rest of August, wherever you are in the world and remember to make some time for down time!
